Most GTM advice online is written by people who've never run a large org. That’s a problem… It’s the equivalent of taking weight loss advice from someone overweight, or swimming lessons from someone who’s never swam a day in their life. You’ll receive surface-level information at best, and misleading information at worst. Theory and execution are two completely different things. This is why I’m in my line of work. I was the former chief revenue officer at NetSPI. I’m legitimately qualified to speak on the realities of building and scaling a GTM team. Be careful who you take advice from.
Apr 2026Starting the week off right! Yesterday I spent time with partners alongside a client. What became very evident during our discussions was that the best outcomes don’t come from competing in silos. They come from working together. Different perspectives with one shared goal, helping clients win. There’s a quote I came across recently that stuck with me: “At the top, they're collaborating. At the bottom, they’re competing.” And it couldn’t be more accurate. The companies delivering the most value right now are the ones putting ego aside, leaning into partnerships, and building outcomes together, not trying to outshine each other. Because ultimately, clients don’t care who gets the credit. They care about outcomes and how you can help them achieve their objectives. Huge shout out to Rupert and Alistair for organising. Appreciate the session yesterday gents, looking forward to the next one 👌🏾 For anyone interested in working with some of the best in the industry, please reach out to myself, Rupert Gask and Alex Balcombe. . . . #Partnerships #NetSPI #Collaboration #Community #Leadership
Apr 2026You don’t need anyone’s permission. You can just… do stuff. When I started at NetSPI, we built the outbound SDR team and Inside Sales team from scratch. I’d never led either of these functions before. I decided nobody was going to hand me anything in life, so I just put one foot in front of the other to make progress. I researched, I experimented, and failed forward until we got it right. At which point, our results exploded, and the rest is history. But it all stemmed from a point of extreme ownership. Nobody was going to hand me success on a silver platter, so I brute-forced it into reality. You can do the same.
