A year before last, I could explain a zero-day to a board in 5 minutes. Ask me what EBITDA stood for and I'd suddenly need water. When I took over as CEO at Network Intelligence, I knew cybersecurity cold — L1 analyst to boardroom, no problem; TCP packet to security orchestration at enterprise level, no problem. But P&L? Balance sheets? Working capital cycles? That was a different language. And nobody at the company was going to hand me a glossary. So I did what every tech person eventually does when reality catches up: I went back to school. RTFM. Twelve months later, I've wrapped up the Chief Executive Officer Programme at Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode , with an additional certificate course from Kellogg Executive Education ( Northwestern University ) — Business Strategies for Growth ("Fewer, Bigger, Bolder"). Some honest takeaways: → A spreadsheet can be scarier than a SOC alert at 2 AM. Both eventually make sense if you stare long enough. → "Strategy" isn't a slide. It's the 47 things you said "NO" to this quarter. → The CEO course didn't make me a finance expert. It just made me look intelligent and dangerous enough to ask the CFO the (right) questions. Which, honestly, is the whole point. → Peer learning > everything else. Twelve months of Sunday evenings with CXOs from completely different industries reframed more of my thinking than any textbook. I have always believed that knowledge and certification are not related. Now with credentials on paper, it is time to work, acquire wisdom from all the work and the training, and create value. To Sanjay Khosla Dr. Deepa S. , the trainers and mentors, and the entire IIMK and Kellogg teams — thank you. And to my team at Network Intelligence who listened to me throwing jargon every monday, fresh from the sunday classes — I owe you. #Leadership #CEO #Cybersecurity #IIMKozhikode #Kellogg #KeepLearning #StayGrounded
May 2026The CEOs and CISOs asking me which tool to buy for Mythos are asking the wrong question. Mythos — the AI model Anthropic deemed too dangerous to release — found a 27-year-old vulnerability in OpenBSD. It uncovered thousands of zero-days for under fifty dollars in compute each. Anthropic locked it behind fifty Project Glasswing partners. No Indian enterprise made the list. Most reactions I've heard since April 7 have been variations of: which vendor solves this? I think that's the question of a leader who hasn't yet understood what changed. What changed is not the threat. Vulnerable software, slow patching, expanding attack surfaces — these have been with us for years. What Mythos changed is the economics of discovery. And here is the part nobody is talking about: at the time of the Glasswing announcement, less than 5% of the vulnerabilities Mythos found had been patched. Not by negligent teams — by the most resourced security organisations on the planet. The bottleneck isn't finding. It's fixing. This is the Action Gap. And it is the real strategic story. We cannot out-discover the AI. We can think basics and act on first principles. I've put down my full thinking — including the five fundamentals every CEO should be funding this quarter — in the article below. Compliance got us this far. Assurance is what gets us through what is next. #Cybersecurity #CEO #CISO #Leadership #InfoSec #Mythos #Assurance Network Intelligence KK Mookhey Pratik Samant Vivek Shivram Iyer Deepak Wanage Arun K.
