In uncertain times, when companies need to innovate and adapt fast, the question of how to motivate and retain people matters enormously. Yet one of the most effective tools available is consistently underused: giving employees a real stake in the company they work for. The evidence is compelling. A global analysis of over 100 studies shows a consistent positive link with company performance. Employees who own shares are more committed, more engaged, and less likely to leave. Employee-owned firms also show greater resilience in downturns, and broader wealth-building across the workforce. But design matters. The plans that work share some common features: ✅ Broad participation — not just for senior executives ✅ Board oversight as part of human capital management ✅ A genuine long-term ownership culture, not a one-off grant ✅ Complementary to wages, never a substitute ✅ Proper financial education so employees understand what they own Done well, employee share ownership aligns interests in a way few other tools can. Apr 2026Too many times, I ended up doing things alone - not because no one wanted to join, but because I didn't have time to message all relevant people for every plan. Today, I can finally share that ZynkUp is live on the App Store 🍏 Early last year, I kept running into the same problem: I wanted to do simple, casual things - go for a run or a bouldering session. But inviting people felt like unnecessary friction. Before: Ask people → wait → either get rejected and repeat, or get a yes. But you only ask the same few people. The person who'd say yes every 20th time? They never even hear about your plan. And group chats didn’t solve it either. Mixing friend groups felt off, and they usually just died out. So this became a real problem. With ZynkUp : I just put my plan in the calendar, choose who can see it, and let people decide for themselves. No direct asking. No pressure. Just visibility - people can join if they want. A year ago, I thought this was too big to build alone. So I reached out to Bendik Nyheim - and together we’ve built something I’m genuinely proud of. I’ve been very lucky to have him onboard and couldn’t have asked for a better teammate. Our goal with ZynkUp is simple: to be the social calendar - with chat and event features strong enough that you don't need any other app to plan your social life. It’s great to see we’re already around 100 users and the feedback has been exactly what we hoped for. We’ve just launched ZynkUp on iOS 🍏 (Android coming soon) If this resonates, give it a try 👇 (link in comments) And if you’re up for a run or anything else - you know where to find me 😄
