Last year, I started doing free calls with expats who wanted to relocate... Sometimes it’s about finding a job. Sometimes it’s about understanding the market. Sometimes it’s just practical advice from someone who has already been through it. And I’ve always done it completely for free. Because I know how overwhelming relocating can feel when you don’t know where to start. What costs me 30 minutes of my time could genuinely help someone avoid weeks of stress, mistakes, or uncertainty. But lately, something has been bothering me. People book the calls… and then simply don’t show up. No message. No cancellation. No apology. Nothing. And I started wondering: Do people value free help less because it’s free? Part of me still wants to keep doing this because I know these conversations can really help someone. But another part of me is questioning whether putting a price on it would create more respect and commitment. So now I’m genuinely curious to hear other perspectives: 💬 Would you continue offering these calls for free, or would you start charging for them?
May 2026In case no one told you today… You don’t need to send 500 job applications to find a job, ok? Every week, I speak with candidates applying to 50+ jobs per day. Most of them don’t even remember where they applied. They just create unnecessary chaos for themselves. I recently spoke with a candidate who had 7 different CV versions open, 4 job platforms, spreadsheets everywhere and LinkedIn tabs crashing every 10 minutes. And I understand the frustration. The job market is competitive. Especially when you’re an expat or trying to switch careers. So people think the solution is: “Apply more.” But most of the time, the problem is not the quantity. It’s the lack of structure. Instead of sending applications everywhere, start building a simple system around 3 things: • Tracking • Tailoring • Timing Tracking: Use tools like Notion , to keep track of where you applied, who contacted you and follow-up dates. Tailoring: Stop using the exact same CV for every role. You don’t need 20 versions, but small adjustments make a huge difference. Timing: Some candidates spend days overthinking one application and apply too late. Others apply randomly to everything in 10 minutes. Both are equally ineffective. The candidates who usually get interviews faster are not always the most qualified ones. They are the ones who apply strategically and consistently. I know job searching can feel exhausting. Especially when rejections pile up. But sending 300 rushed applications won’t make you feel better. Having a system will. And trust me… a candidate who knows exactly where they applied is already ahead of most people.
May 2026“‘Without remote work, I refuse the job.’ This strong statement, featured in La DH, perfectly reflects today’s reality in the labour market. In the article, I share my perspective on how flexibility has evolved from a ‘nice to have’ into a key expectation for many candidates. At the same time, performance, collaboration and learning are also built collectively. In my experience, hybrid working remains the most effective balance, combining flexibility with the value of being together. The debate around telework is far from over and it’s reshaping how we think about work, performance and trust. 👉 Read the full article in La DH: https://lnkd.in/exynjXGr
