The ability to establish soft , flexible and electrically conductive hydrogel networks underpins applications ranging from #wearable and #implantable sensors 🦾, instrumented #tissue models 🧫, to #organ -on-a-chip platforms. 🫀 However , designing conductive polymer inks for #bioelectronic interfaces presents challenges due to the interplay between #polymer chemistry, conductive #material performance, and #fabrication process. In this article just published in 🎉NPJ flexible electronics Nature Portfolio , we built an #AI -ready surrogate that integrates physicochemical feature #engineering to predict and optimise the conductivity of inks for bioelectronic applications. Our closed-loop workflow includes the exploration of over 800 samples in the virtual #data space using Latin Hypercube Sampling to identify candidate formulations with high #conductivities . We also assessed the processability of the predicted hydrogel formulation for 3D #bioprinting . 👉Read more at : “Physicochemical-informed predictive modelling on small datasets for designing conductive polymer inks in soft bioelectronics” 📚 https://lnkd.in/gVweYJXA (early access) Great work from Jia Min Lee & xinchao ! 🥳 Our portfolio of 🌟AI for bioprinting🌟 is getting more momentum 🆙 #3Dprinting #ML #machinelearning #implantableelectrodes #electroceutical #bionic #bioink #advancedmanufacturing #biomanufacturing #computation #flexibleelectronics #printedelectronics #tissueengineering
May 2026Congrats to all my Final Year Project (FYP) students for completing their FYP presentations successfully! 🎉👏🎊 FYP is the final requirement for our students to obtain the Degree of Bachelor of Engineering at NTU School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering . We had a great time learning about and examining various projects done by the #graduating students. From 3D printed #bioinspired flapping wing #robotics 🦅, to shape-morphing #printhead mechanism in #foodprinting 🍔, to studying the chemistry in #electrochemical -based #metal printing ⚛️, to the dynamic behavior of chainmail #design #metamaterials and #wearable , we covered a spectrum of topics in #3Dprinting . These are just some topics that I supervised this year . I hope you have had a lot of fun #learning and leading these emerging #engineering projects ( while pouring a lot of sweat doing experiments 💦, fabricating samples and models 🧑🔧 etc ) Working alongside researchers , some of you even filed new technology disclosure and PCT #patent application! we are also praparing 2 manuscripts 📄with your help in the projects. Thank you ! 😁 All the best to your next adventure 🌟🌟! We know you are ready! 🚀🚀 Thanks to our researcher mentors in my research team too, Guo Liang Goh Guo Dong Goh Daniel Goh Wei Qi J. #engineeringeducation #multimaterials #printedelectronics #sensors
May 2026🪐🌍Are we alone in the universe ? 🪐🌌🌍 We now know more about that from the amazing public lecture delivered by Dr Thomas H. Zurbuchen , on ✨The Drake equation ✨. An equation developed by Frank Drake to estimate the number of active, communicative extraterrestrial #civilizations in the Milky Way #Galaxy . The equation with 7 different parameters, is of course significant, but was made so easy to understand by Dr Z. The lecture was attended by approximately 300 members of public, from young children, parents, professionals, students to university professors. I served as the moderator for the Q&A session. It was humbling to hear very deep and sharp questions from the audience, coming from all age groups : 🙋7-year-old boy who asked about #bacteria and rocks on planets , 🙋🏻♀️young secondary school girls who asked about dark matter, on key considerations when establishing #communication with alien civilisation , 👩🏻🏫a professor asked about man vs #unmanned mission and many more interesting questions from the floor. 🎤 I was particularly impressed by the young audience who are so confident and obviously know more about astrophysics than I do! 🫡 It was even more humbling to see Dr Z answered all questions with care and well-thought replies, drawing from his vast experience in space missions, fundamental in #astrophysics , current international effort in #spacescience and beyond. 🎉We thank eveyone for joining us at this special lecture. I hope you had as much fun as I did! 🤩🤩 🎉Thank you also to the organising team at NTU School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering for making this event a success! 🥳👏👏 📚Read more about Drake equation and space here https://lnkd.in/gmEjHVDi 📚Dark matter https://lnkd.in/gZYfzpBc #aerospace #engineering Nanyang Technological University Singapore
Apr 2026Fun way to wrap up a busy few weeks this morning on Bloomberg Surveillance with Jon Ferro and Lisa Abramowicz. We discussed the upcoming Fed meeting, why I think the Fed is likely to remain on hold for now, and why fixed income investors do not need to wait for rate cuts to find value. With yields where they are today, carry can still do a lot of the work.

Apr 2026AI is changing the way we work and learn. But to bring the impact of #AI into real physical life, we need engineering to serve as a medium or interface. Bringing AI into #engineering , so we can #design better materials, build better systems, run smarter #workflows and re-imagine products with new potentials. The domain of engineering is experiencing a jump and we are racing with time to form a new solid knowledge base to support that progression, in all engineering disciplines , #mechanical , #electrical , #civilengineering , #aerospace #materialscience #manufacturing #education and beyond ! We are only at the beginning now ! 🚀 This is what motivated me to serve at journals to lead and join in this community effort. Much more are needed ! 🤜🤛 Join us and share your AI research with us at : 📚 IOP Publishing Machine Learning and AI 📚 International Journal of AI for Materials and Design 🔊 2nd International Conference on Future of AM 2026 04-06 AUG , Singapore 🇸🇬
Apr 2026🤖What a splendid way of spending a Sunday afternoon at RoboCup Singapore Open 2026! 🇸🇬 https://2026.robocupsg.org This year is even more meaningful for us as NTU School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is the co-Organizer of this impactful event, made possible by the amazing dedication of our students leaders from NTU MAE Robotics Club ! This is impacful because the 18th RoboCup Singapore Open goes beyond Singapore. 🌏The competition celebrates achievement on a global scale with ✨550 participants and 180 teams✨ from seven countries and regions. These include China, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Macau SAR, South Korea , Singapore, and Chinese Taipei. This shows how #robotics encourages collaborative spirit and drives #innovation . I delivered a #keynote speech highlighting the future of #learning for 🤖robotics and the importance of robotics in driving #advancedmanufacturing and beyond. 📈 Also had a great time catching up with our friends in Singapore robotics ecosystem Changjiu Zhou Meng Fai T. Wee Kiang CHENG MUN SEE THAM Pey Yuen Tao Nai Kwan Tan Yan Wu Alongside our colleagues Holden Li YCai NTU I-Ming Chen 🍀 Congrats again to all the participants and winners! 🏆🎉👏 look forward to seeing you at Nanyang Technological University Singapore Robotics Degree Programs👩🏻🎓👨🏻🎓🧑🏽🎓 more at https://lnkd.in/gVzTzkXu Congrats Venus Wong and team at NTU MAE Robotics Club for this success story!
