Havn't we heard enough about the need for innovations in health? Frankly, there are plenty of them around now! I feel the real problem is that most of them are not supported well enough during their journey that would make them integration worthy. Thus, after most pilots, innovations are not sustainable for the Governments to consider making them a part of their regular health budgets - a critical long term success pillar. Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia , Asian Development Bank (ADB) , The Rockefeller Foundation , PATH , and The Bridgespan Group are partnering to host an expert session at the upcoming #PhilanthropyAsiaSummit on: "𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬: 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐈-𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬" The discussion comes at an important moment for global health, as countries across Asia and beyond explore how AI, MedTech, and digital infrastructure can strengthen resilience, improve access, and support more adaptive healthcare delivery systems. 📅 19th May 2026 🕓 4:00–5:00 PM SGT 📍 Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Singapore Looking forward to the perspectives and expertise this group will bring to the conversation. 🔗 Register here to attend: https://lnkd.in/gq8KFwxU #PAS2026 #PhilanthropyAsiaSummit Budi Sadikin | Neeraj Jain | Jae Kyoun Kim | Manisha Bhinge | Indira Dewi Kantiana | Pritha Venkatachalam | Soleh Ayubi, Ph.D | Izak Jenie | Aniruddha Patil Wellcome Trust | Gates Foundation | The World Bank Group | Unitaid | World Health Organization | World Health Organization Indonesia | Novartis | United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) | Tanoto Foundation | Temasek | National University of Singapore | Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) | Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) | Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office | Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) | KfW | Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH | Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada | Grand Challenges Canada | IFC - International Finance Corporation
May 2026Frankly, I’ve never been happier to attain any qualification than I am with this one! What a profound and transformative journey it has been. Thank you Dr. Debi Silber PhD for this program.
May 2026Every year, world leaders meet at big conferences and agree that Africa needs more money for development. Then everyone goes home. And the gap stays exactly where it was. Here's the thing: The money exists. It’s sitting in pension funds, insurance companies, and private investment firms around the world. The problem is it's not flowing to where it's needed most. Why? Because investors are nervous. The risks feel too high. The returns feel too uncertain. So the money stays where it's "safe," and Africa's roads, clinics, schools, and clean energy projects don't get built. This is where blended finance comes in. The idea is simple: A small amount of government or donor money comes in first like a safety net. It says to private investors: "If something goes wrong, we'll absorb the first loss." That reassurance is often enough for private investors: the small safety net can unlock investments 10 or 20 times its size. Think of it like a restaurant that's new in town. The owner knows the food is great, but customers are unsure. So a trusted local figure vouches for it publicly. That endorsement doesn't cost much but it fills the restaurant. A new report by UNDP and Convergence has published the most detailed blueprint I've seen for how governments can build this system properly. Over the next few weeks, I'll be breaking it down in plain language and asking what it means for Africa. Follow along if you work in development, finance, government, or simply care about where the money goes. Link to report: https://lnkd.in/d7Ny5WJF #BlendedFinance #DevelopmentFinance #Africa #SDGs
May 2026Some women are not asking to choose between motherhood and ambition. They are asking for the chance to hold both. And I keep thinking about how many women quietly carry this tension: building a career they worked hard for, while hoping motherhood will not erase parts of who they are. Not because they love their children less. Not because they are less committed to work. But because too many systems still treat caregiving and professional growth as competing identities. I once recorded a thought that came back to me today: “Every woman wants to build her career with her child by her side.” That line stayed with me because it says something bigger about the kind of societies we are building. Do our systems make room for women to grow, lead, nurture, and contribute fully? Or do they still force impossible trade-offs behind the scenes? For me, this is not only a motherhood conversation. It is also an early childhood conversation. A workforce conversation. A wellbeing conversation. A systems conversation. Because when women are supported, children are supported too. And maybe that is one of the questions worth sitting with beyond Mother’s Day. #EarlyChildhoodDevelopment #ECD #WomenInLeadership #MaternalWellbeing #PublicHealth

Apr 2026Non-communicable diseases now account for three-quarters of the global disease burden. Yet funding to address them remains critically, chronically insufficient. I'm proud to share a blog I co-authored with Eduardo Banzon and Vasoontara Sbirakos Yiengprugsawan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) , now live on the ADB Asian Development Blog -Innovative Finance Can Bridge the Growing Non-Communicable Disease Funding Chasm. Across low- and middle-income countries, fiscal constraints and declining development assistance have left NCDs deeply underfunded despite their massive human and economic toll. Traditional financing approaches simply aren't keeping pace. In this piece, we explore how countries are beginning to turn the tide through: ✅ Health taxes on tobacco, alcohol, and sugar-sweetened beverages that channel revenue directly into NCD prevention ✅ Performance-based financing that redirects health budgets toward early detection and community outreach ✅ Conditional cash transfers that incentivize preventive health behaviors at the household level ✅ Public-private partnerships that expand screening, diagnostics, and reach Countries like Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, and India are already showing what's possible when political will meets the right financing model. The task now is to scale these approaches with strong governance, cross-sector collaboration, and a long-term commitment to prevention.
