I’m looking forward to facilitating a panel discussion on the 2026 Federal Budget - and more importantly, what it means in practice for our clients and partners. This year’s budget has a clear narrative around intergenerational equity, taxation of wealth and housing supply - but beneath the headlines, the real opportunity is to step back and ask: 👉 What should clients actually do (and not do)? 👉 How do we stay focused on long-term outcomes in the face of budget and yet to be enacted policy noise? 👉 And how do we better plan for one of the largest intergenerational wealth transfers we’ll see in our lifetimes? We’ll be exploring: · Taxing wealth & intergenerational equity - balancing fairness with real-world impact · Bias to action - avoiding reactive decisions and maintaining discipline · Goals-based advice & structuring wealth - shifting from tax-driven to purpose-driven strategy · Intergenerational planning - proactive conversations and sustainable wealth transfer I’m pleased to be joined by: Andrew Garrett, CFA CAIA Investment Director Sandra Kent Senior Financial Adviser Richard Press Technical Strategic Advice Specialist If there’s one takeaway we’re aiming to reinforce, it’s this: clarity of goals, disciplined behaviour and long-term thinking will always matter more than reacting to policy changes. Looking forward to a great discussion.
May 2026Great discussion this morning with Elysse Lorenti CFP® unpacking the Federal Budget and what it could mean for clients. A few themes stood out: - Property settings remain in focus, reinforcing the importance of structure and timing - Potential CGT changes could materially impact long-term investment decisions - Increased scrutiny on trust structures for family groups and business owners - Ongoing need for thoughtful superannuation strategy For most investors, this isn’t about reacting today, it’s about understanding the direction of travel and making informed decisions over time.
May 2026Just wrapped up two sessions at SSOW 2026 - NextGen Finance Transformation in Sydney. I had the chance to join a panel on building a connected digital core for strategic finance - focused on the fragmented tech stack and overcoming the obstacles for a better connected future. I also presented something a little different: What LEGO can teach us about finance solution delivery. And yes, we built a new finance stack with colourful bricks. Spoiler - it's less about the individual bricks and more about how they snap together. The themes that kept surfacing across both days: → Integration continues to bring complexity to finance transformation → Architecture decisions made today shape what AI can actually do tomorrow → The orgs winning right now are the ones treating transformation as a design discipline, not just a one-off tech project Thanks to the SSOW team for putting together a genuinely sharp program, and to everyone who stuck around to chat after the sessions - those conversations are always the best part. If any of this resonates with challenges you're working through, I'd love to connect. #FinanceTransformation #SSOW2026 #DigitalCore #EnterpriseArchitecture #AI #AgenticAI

Apr 2026I recently sat down with Renée Condylis and Sonia Maybir for a practical discussion on Division 296 - the $3m superannuation tax. We unpack what it actually means, who it is likely to affect and the planning options those impacted should be actively considering. Importantly, we also delve into a lesser discussed aspect of the rules that may require action before 30 June 2026 - much sooner than many expect. More to come in the full video.
