Every week, someone tells me about a new AI tool I should try. Gamma. Nano Banana. Notebooklm. Whatever dropped yesterday. I used to say yes to all of them. That's how I ended up with more tools than I can count. But here's what I've actually learned: it's not an AI problem. I've been here before. I did the same thing with productivity tools. I jumped from Evernote to Notion. Notion to Bear Notes. Bear Notes to Craft. Every new tool promised a better system. Every migration cost me weeks of momentum. The tool was never the problem. My relationship with novelty was. It's called 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗻𝘆 𝗢𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗲 and AI has made it worse. New tools drop constantly. Each one smarter, faster, shinier than the last. And if you're jumping between them — running experiments, comparing outputs, downloading everything — it feels productive. It isn't always. Here's how I now decide which AI tools to use: Identify your biggest problem. Find the best tool for that specific job. Stick with it for at least a year. For me, the problem is researching, learning, and writing to build authority and visibility on LinkedIn efficiently and effectively. So I use: Perplexity for research. ChatGPT for thinking and drafting. Claude for refinement and strategy. That's the stack and it took me longer than I'd like to admit to stop adding to it. AI fluency isn't about access. It's about depth. Most senior professionals aren't behind because they lack AI tools. They're behind because they're dabbling into every new tool that comes their way and calling it a strategy. Pick one. Understand it deeply. Push past "write this for me." You can always expand later but depth beats tool collecting.
