🚨 We're back! 🎙️ I know, I know... I've been under a rock. 😅 at least from being posting on LinkedIn Truth is, it has been incredibly busy over the past few months. While Ananth P. and I have been constantly discussing the Data & AI landscape, I've genuinely missed the amazing community. The good news? Ananth P. and I are back. We're restarting our podcast and bringing back community activities through Data Engineering Weekly and through the amazing community of Data Heroes- Community for Data Folks. What would you like to hear? This time around, you will get an opportunity to hear from practitioners firsthand, along with us. What would you like to hear? Whom would you like us to host?
Aug 2026It was a pleasure to be part of DISH Network Technologies' AI Day, joining their leadership team to discuss what it takes to build an AI-first enterprise. What stood out to me wasn't just the technology—it was how consistently every session reinforced that successful AI transformations require strategy, data, people, and execution to evolve together Eben Albertyn shared the broader AI vision and operating model, emphasizing that scaling AI is ultimately a business transformation. Success depends on aligning governance, operating models, and business priorities—not just deploying new technology. Andrea Farris highlighted the importance of building a trusted, governed data foundation before scaling AI initiatives. It was a compelling reminder that the quality of AI outcomes will always reflect the quality of the underlying data. The roadmap from data readiness to AI-enabled business outcomes was compelling and something we at Databricks live and breathe in our products. One of my favorite was from Naba Kumar Das, who spoke about the people side of AI transformation. His message was simple but powerful: organizations that embrace AI by investing in their people, encouraging experimentation, and building an AI-first culture will move faster than those that view AI as just another technology project. The real differentiator isn't just the tools—it's how people adopt and use them every day. My session focused on how organizations can operationalize AI at scale—from creating intelligent agents with Agent Bricks, to delivering business-ready AI experiences with AI Apps, and enabling governed, conversational analytics with Genie. May 2026There is GOOD feedback and there is feedback that is GOOD FOR YOU. They are not necessarily the same. While good feedback feels pleasant, it is often in the tough meetings where the most learning occurs. Recently, I had one of those sessions with a customer in Germany who expressed frustration over product issues, usability concerns, and communication challenges. Their feedback was specific and fair. I am truly thankful for this type of interaction because this feedback is GOOD FOR ME and for Qlik . It will only help us improve. Another key takeaway is that despite their clear frustration, this customer remains a fan of what we do. They took the time to articulate their needs, and if they didn’t care, we likely would not have ever known their thoughts. How do you approach these tough meetings with customers?
May 2026Just saw Drew Clarke celebrating 15 YEARS at Qlik 🤯👏 He shared why Qlik has meant so much to him and honestly, it sounded VERY familiar… because he said the exact same things when I interviewed him back in September 2024 🎙️ Consistency like that says everything. Huge congrats, Drew! I learned a ton from you during my time at Qlik, and I’ll never forget our interview (and that legendary bus ride to Disney Springs during SKO 🚍🍻). Here’s to many more milestones ahead! 🚀
May 202615 Years at Qlik ! When people ask me why I have worked so long at one company, I often answer that I have worked for many different companies but never had to transfer my retirement account (401k). Yes, we have changed but in many ways we have not. I joined the company 15 years ago for 3 reasons, which continue to be true today. - Qlik’s Mission: In my words, Qilk was and continues to make the world a better place with data and analytics. - The Technology: The analytics engine was differentiated and unique in the market. It continues be amazingly valuable and relevant in the world of Agentic AI. - The People: I joined because of people like Anthony Deighton . I continue to love being a global citizen, working with amazing people from all over the world. There are so many memories and milestones, here are a few highlights (ok - a lot of highlights). - The countless customer and partner meetings (EAB, CAB, PAC, Luminaries, Ambassadors). I get so inspired by what everyone does with our technology to make the world a better place! - The Qlik Boston community: We have been through 4 moves and now in downtown Boston at TD Garden. Through it all we have formed a fabulous community who always find ways to give back while being true to who we are. Thank You Ava Frank ! - My first acquisition – Expressor. Yes, Bob Potter we still have team members at Qlik! - My first Swedish acquisition – NCOMVA. Working closely with great engineers like Anders Nilsson who showed me that when a tech tuck in has engineering sponsor, it really works! - Project Impala – our move from perpetual software to subscription and cloud. This was the beginning our journey on upgrading our customer focus with Roberto Sigona . - Going from Public to Private with great teammates like James Fisher , Ruthann Wry , Deborah Cleary Lofton , Dennis Johnson . -My first public company acquisition – Attunity, a strategic “bet the business” acquisition to get into the real time data integration business ( Dan Potter ) ….and realizing the potential of working with people who are great athletes Peter Leddy ! It has been great to see your career continuing to grow! - The biggest acquisition – Talend where I was able to work with Sam Pierson who showed how to scale and bridge engineering teams from multiple cultures, heritage companies and locations! - Making a difference in the world through Qlik.org with Julie Kae . - Building the GM concept with great leaders like Brendan Grady and Matthew Hayes . - Working for and learning from great leaders including Lars Björk , David Murphy, Mike Capone and now Mike Lipps. What a great 15 years with Qlik, I am fortunate to have the opportunity to have been a part of this journey with everyone! Thank You!
