Total respect to Sgt. Prewitt and his family for their strength and perseverence. A leg hanging on by the calf muscle after a crash like that — and fighting all the way back home — is a level of toughness most people, myself included, will never understand. And this story is also a reminder of why Regional One Health matters. Trauma surgery and vascular surgery gave Sgt. Prewitt a chance not just to survive, but to keep his leg and even regain feeling in all of his toes—and hopefully to go back to the job he loves. That’s extraordinary work done by extraordinarily skilled people under unbelievable pressure. The definition of grit, elite medical care, and a man getting home to his family. I wish him the best and offer any help I can give in the future. We’re fortunate to have Sgt. Prewett; we need more like him.
May 2026Access to high-quality, specialized care is one of the most important determinants of patient outcomes. At Regional One Health , we are focused on ensuring that services like trauma and burn care, women’s services, and other specialty areas are not limited by geography or socioeconomic status. These investments do more than improve clinical outcomes—they build trust. When communities know they can rely on a health system for advanced, life-saving care, it changes how and when patients seek treatment. Earlier intervention, better continuity, and stronger patient relationships all follow. As healthcare systems look to the future, the question is not only how to advance care—but how to ensure that care is accessible to every community that depends on it. #RegionalOneHealth #BuildingTheFuture #HealthcareLeadership #PatientCenteredCare #Memphis
