GenAI Licensing: How Does It Work? Licensing is becoming one of the defining issues in the AI debate. Across creative sectors, new licensing models are emerging. This was shared during our event is under the auspices of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU 2026 and organised by the Cyprus Copyright Association (EDPI) with the support of a Coalition of Creative and Cultural Sectors. 🎯 What are we seeing in practice? ☑️ Rapid development of AI licensing approaches across sectors ☑️ Clear preference for negotiated, market-based solutions ☑️ Strong interest in building frameworks that can work across different players and use cases ☑️ More should be done to make licensing scalable 👇 Some perspectives from one of our discussions with policymakers and industry stakeholders below : Axel Voss , Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Emmanuelle Du Chalard , Head of Unit, Copyright, European Commission Kadambari Prasad , Economist, Compass Lexecon Stefan Heijdendael Strategic Advisor, NDP Nieuwsmedia

This should be a good one. During crisis is when we cut corners and make (generally) suboptimal choices. Sometimes, it works out. Sometimes it doesn’t. Understanding the tradeoffs quickly under stress is key. This microsim will help. Plus a free meal, what could be better?

Let's continue on our "overlooked but amazing" national parks journey, shall we? Where in Utah do you think this is? Turns out, this isn't in Utah at all. It's Balanced Rock in Big Bend National Park. Crazy, right? Big Bend is logistically challenging to get to. You could drive 10+ hours from Houston/Austin/Dallas, or 7+ hours from San Antonio, or 3-4 hours from El Paso. Services are few, the desert sun is unforgiving, and it's just miserable much of the year (sort of like Death Valley). But if you go between October and March, you have a treat awaiting you. Where else can you find: - Soaring hills to hike on. - A living, breathing river on the border with Mexico, with an open crossing to a Mexican town. - Canyons and climbing routes. - Ghost towns (nearby!). - The most amazing desert flora and fauna. - A hot spring (the size of a large hot tub) on the US side, about 25 feet from the Mexico border. (This is the coolest thing ever, especially early in the morning.) - Sparkling night skies in this most remote of parks. Big Bend is unique and stunning. Want a park in the lower 48 that'll thrill your soul? You can't go wrong picking it. Make the trek. Thank me later. – Interested in more content like this and don't want to miss a post? I wanted the answer to a simple question: how are young Britons actually managing financially beyond their wage? So earlier this year, I asked OnePoll to survey 4,000 Britons aged 18–44, and the results were, frankly, fascinating, bleak, and oddly hopeful all at once. The data shows that Britain no longer runs on wages alone. Under-45s are increasingly relying on a patchwork household economy: side hustles, savings, grandparents doing childcare, online selling, second jobs, and multigenerational living...and occasionally, from a conversation I had with a professional driver last week, importing magic mirror photo booths from China while selling Iron Maiden t-shirts to Gen X Americans on Amazon. Yes, really. Some of the most striking findings? ➡️ 38% said they actually felt worse off after receiving a pay rise. ➡️ Nearly half of parents said they had dipped into savings just to make ends meet over the past year. The pay rise no longer feels like advancement. It feels like absorption. Housing, childcare, debt, transport, frozen tax thresholds… the money disappears before people even feel it. And yet, this isn’t simply a story of collapse. People are adapting. Families are pooling resources. Side hustles aren’t always about entrepreneurial dreams; often, they’re about resilience, protection, and trying to create breathing space in an economy increasingly designed around two incomes and inherited support. There’s also one line from the research I genuinely cannot stop thinking about: 9% of lone parents said they would consider entering a relationship partly for financial security. Wild. Understandable. And probably telling us far more about the modern economy than we’d like to admit.

This is an interesting perspective. I think the only thing I’d add is that many companies also have the tug of (short-term) market demands.
