The RSSB Annual Business Plan for 2026–27 is now live. I’m particularly excited to be contributing to Train Movement Insights, Service Reliability and the Overspeed Indicator, working with colleagues across RSSB to turn data into insight that the industry can act on. #ABrighterRailwayForEveryone #RSSB #Safetyandstandards
Apr 2026We have just published a knowledge search on friction management systems. It was really interesting being involved in the process from the start and working with an excellent supplier to deliver this comprehensive report. If you're interested in an up-to-date overview of wheel/rail interface friction management covering various types of application systems, this might be a good starting place. #TeamRSSB https://lnkd.in/eysRjnF9
Apr 2026Earlier this week, I attended an interesting talk in our office on the introduction of the Class 93 tri-mode locomotive. The event was organised by the IMechE Railway Division South East Centre and presentations were delivered by Karl Watts, co-owner of Railway Operations Group and Andy Grundy, Head of Engineering of Rail Operations Group. In addition to the technical insights, it is always useful for me to hear more about the infrastructure compatibility aspects as this is closely related to some of the work and standards that I am involved in. #rssb #teamrssb #routeavailability
Apr 2026Looking forward to another busy year ahead at RSSB ! We'll be continuing our work to facilitate a sustainable and socially inclusive railway, in partnership with industry and policy makers. Our priorities for the year ahead include: 📊 Delivering a free, cross-industry carbon management tool for consistent calculation and management of carbon project forecasts; 🌏 Furthering our work on climate resilience by establishing a comprehensive and consistent understanding of climate adaption maturity across the network; 🏘️ Promoting rail’s contribution to jobs, accessibility, community, health, and the environment through the publication of a social impact report. And of course we'll be continuing all our work on air quality, educational outreach, noise mitigation, biodiversity and nature enhancement, water management, skills development, social value, carbon accounting, preventing violence against women and girls, and so much more... Apr 2026It's a pleasure to see that the work I have been leading on updating the rail industry standard for lighting at stations is part of RSSB annual business plan. This is part of our commitment to enhance passenger experience at stations by improving safety and accessibility.
Proud of the work behind RSSB’s Annual Business Plan and the ambition it sets out for the years ahead. It shows how our expertise and whole‑system perspective can make a real, positive difference for rail across the UK. #RSSB #abrighterrailwayforeveryone
