Everyone is selling. Founder sells. PMs sell. Few ever train for it. This week I spent 2 hours in a sales course by my friend Gabriel Moncayo — one of the sharpest sales trainers in SaaS. 4 behaviors stuck with me. All 4 are things I still catch myself doing wrong: 1. Talking fast when the prospect says "I'm busy." Signals desperation. Slow down — confidence reads as respect. 2. Not listening. Repeat their exact words back. Don't paraphrase. Mirror. 3. Speaking to fill silence. Ask a strong question and shut up. Awkward is data. 4. Telling small lies to cover product gaps. The urge to lie is a signal to dig deeper into the need instead. These aren't "sales tactics." They're communication fundamentals. Every founder does some version of all four — in investor pitches, hiring calls, customer convos. The ones who fix them sell more. The ones who sell more, build more. #sales
