Well done to The Pump Centre for delivering another fantastic and well-organised event. It was great to see such a wide range of exhibitors showcasing innovative technologies and equipment to support the water sector, both for this AMP and future AMPs to come. I really enjoyed the opportunity to speak with so many stands today, and my apologies to those I didn’t manage to connect with. I’m already looking forward to following up on some great conversations and doing it all again next year! #WES2026 Matt
May 2026We may be witnessing a defining shift in cybersecurity. Microsoft’s latest agentic AI security system (code name MDASH) is not just improving vulnerability discovery but redefining it. By orchestrating over 100 specialised AI agents, it can identify, validate, and even prove exploitable vulnerabilities at scale, uncovering real world flaws before attackers do. More interesting, these vulnerabilities were patched in production environments, highlighting AI’s growing role in accelerating both discovery and remediation cycles. For security enthusiast, this raises a key question: Are we approaching a future where vulnerability discovery and patch management become AI-driven, continuous, and near real time? Because if attackers are already leveraging AI at speed, defence must evolve faster. I’m curious to hear how others are potentially taking advantage of this shift and thinking about this: • AI in vulnerability discovery/validation • Autonomous patch management • The future of SecOps with agentic systems It would be interesting to hear from those already exploring the private preview of MDASH to know how it is performing. #CyberSecurity #AI #AgenticAI #VulnerabilityManagement #SecurityLeadership #SecOps #FridayNuggets #MDASH

May 2026Incoming rant... I expected turnout to be low in New Brunswick’s municipal elections, but seeing it hovering around 39% is still pretty disappointing. Municipal government isn’t some distant layer of decision making. It’s the level of govt that shapes your day to day life the most. The parks your kids play in, the trails you walk/bike, the condition of your roads, water, housing, policing, fire, how your community grows, how accessible/inclusive it feels and so much more... And yet, it consistently sees lower turnout than provincial or federal elections by a wide margin. That’s the part that doesn’t add up. This is the level of government you’re closest to. The one where decisions hit home the fastest. The one that affects your sense of belonging. The one where your voice arguably carries the most weight. If we want stronger, more vibrant communities, participation can’t be an afterthought. It starts with showing up. Bring back civics to the schools. Educate folks on how the systems work... End of rant.
May 2026Another busy month, and it's not yet over!✨ It's such a pleasure doing the job I do, pushing boundaries and challenging my own comfort zone to do more and more. This month alone, I've spoken with BBC Radio Leicester and BBC Radio Nottingham talking about removing barriers to our apprenticeships and the power of the collective, I joined the Amazing Apprenticeship and Youth Futures Foundation teams yesterday for their second webinar of a four part series exploring how businesses can utilise apprenticeships to build a successful talent pipeline and then today, I joined the Highways and Utility Committee's annual convention, celebrating their 40th year, talking all things Apprenticeships and Social Impact🙌🏻 Not to mention, a brilliant site visit with some our fabulous Graduates on one of our treatment works last week! It's not just pushing boundaries at work, I also competed in my first Deadly Dozen last weekend. Training has been a big part of my life for a long time now but my new found passion for hybrid training is taking me to new levels and places. My next stop, Hyrox Mixed Doubles in Barcelona next month📍 We have live opportunities to join our team at the minute. Apr 2026I’m recruiting Leakage Team Managers across Warwickshire and the Midlands to lead high‑performing people in a fast‑moving, data‑driven environment. These roles are about operational leadership. Coaching teams, using analytics to make confident decisions, and driving performance that protects water resources and service levels. If you’re motivated by leading people, interpreting data intelligently, and owning outcomes that genuinely matter, I’d like to hear from you.
Apr 2026Winning a case is easy. Handling a client isn’t. Law books teach you sections. Courtrooms teach you strategy. But clients test your psychology. Because most cases aren’t complicated by law, they’re complicated by people. 1. Ego Every client believes they are right. Not legally, personally. And sometimes, they’re not looking for advice, they’re looking for validation. 2. Selective hearing You explain risks, timelines, possible outcomes. They hear only one thing: “We will win.” 3. Emotional bias Facts take a backseat. Decisions are driven by anger, revenge, or fear, not by what actually strengthens the case. And that’s where the real challenge begins. Because being a good lawyer isn’t just about knowing the law, it’s about managing expectations without losing trust. Sometimes, the hardest part of litigation is not arguing in court, it’s having an honest conversation outside it. What’s been harder in your experience: understanding the law or handling the client? #LitigationLife #AdvocatesLife #LegalProfession #LawyersOfLinkedIn #CourtroomReality #ClientManagement #LegalPractice #YoungLawyers #LawStudents #IndianLawyers #LegalInsights #LawCareer
Apr 2026When you make a new friend at work 💖🐑 Look out for ‘Maurice’ the new Solihull BID Town Centre mascot when you are out and about! He’s named after W.Maurice Mell, the original namesake of Mell Square. And he’s super friendly, of course 🤗
Apr 2026Not everything is an analytics problem. In today’s data-driven world, it’s easy to assume that every challenge requires dashboards, complex models, or advanced tools. But in reality, many problems don’t need more data, they need clearer thinking. Some situations are resolved by simply asking the right questions: 1. What exactly is the problem we’re trying to solve? 2. Are we overcomplicating something that is fundamentally simple? 3. Do we already have enough information to make a decision? Analytics is powerful, but it should be applied where it truly adds value. Over-reliance on data can sometimes slow decision-making, introduce unnecessary complexity, and distract from practical solutions. Strong logical thinking, business understanding, and clarity often solve problems faster than any tool. The real skill is knowing when to use analytics — and when not to. #Leadership #DataAnalytics #CriticalThinking #DecisionMaking #BusinessStrategy
