Singapore is enhancing its emergency response with the launch of "SG Alert," a new mass emergency notification system designed to keep everyone safe during major incidents like fires, chemical leaks, or terror threats. 🚨🇸🇬 Unlike standard SMS, SG Alert uses cell broadcast technology to send simultaneous messages that can bypass silent mode and high network traffic. The alerts will feature a distinctive tone and vibration pattern lasting up to 10 seconds to ensure you don’t miss critical information. 📱🔊 Key details you need to know: • Phased Rollout: Starting with Singtel users in May 2026, followed by StarHub (end-2026), and M1/Simba (mid-2027). 🗓️ • System Test: A public test for Singtel users will take place on May 10, 2026, at 12pm. ⏰ • No App Needed: This is a built-in feature that requires no downloads or registration. Just ensure your phone is updated to the latest OS (iOS 16.4 or Android 12 and above). 🔄 • Privacy First: The system does not collect personal data or track your location. 🔒 • Universal Reach: Alerts will be sent in English by default, with additional translations in Mandarin, Malay, or Tamil based on your phone’s language settings. 🗣️ Stay informed and stay safe! Make sure your mobile software is up to date to receive these life-saving notifications. 🛡️ #Singapore #SCDF #PublicSafety #SGAlert #Singtel #TechForGood #EmergencyPreparedness #SmartNation #SafetyFirst #StayInformed https://lnkd.in/gUGZVYC4
Apr 2026StarHub is making a major strategic move in the cybersecurity space! As of April 15, 2026, the telco has agreed to return majority control of Ensign InfoSecurity to Temasek in a deal that will see it receive S$115 million in cash. 🚀 This decision concludes a seven-year governance arrangement. While StarHub’s effective interest will shift from 55.73% down to 38.92%, the financial impact is significant: the company expects to recognise a fair value gain of over S$200 million for the 2026 financial year. 📈 The move is designed to partially monetise StarHub's investment and free up capital for redeployment into other core and strategic business areas. Although Ensign will be reclassified from a subsidiary to an associated company, the two organisations will continue to collaborate closely as strategic partners. 🤝 Including a S$6 million capital reduction distribution, StarHub will receive a total of approximately S$121 million from the transaction. This marks a clear step toward optimizing their portfolio while maintaining a foothold in the critical cybersecurity sector. 💼 #StarHub #Temasek #EnsignInfoSecurity #Cybersecurity #SingaporeBusiness #Investment #Strategy #TechNews #Finance #BusinessUpdate https://lnkd.in/gEJU7NTK
