We noticed this problem where we had metric drift with inconsistent KPIs across tools, so it looks like our dashboards and AI answers are wrong. This is costly and time-consuming to fix, and it leads to AI hallucinations. The solution: a single source of truth, where, as Southard Jones said, "business meaning should be defined once and understood everywhere." May 2026I always struggle when it comes to wrapping up my thoughts on the annual #Tableau Conference. This was my 9th in-person conference, and 6th as an employee. Each one different and wonderful in their own very unique ways. So here is my take on #TC26 . Taking part in my 6th IronViz and each time it's such an amazing experience. It's unlike any other conference experience you will have. The cast and crew become a small family as we support, encourage, and hype each other up to do amazing work on the keynote statge... and we did just that! What an amazing IronViz! From our three amazing contestants in Ann Pregler , Brian Moore . and Kevin Wee Ph.D. to their 3 awesome partners in crime, aka the Sous Vizzers! Gus Frazer , Grant Quick , and Lauren Smith . From our A-MAZE-ING co-hosts Archana Ganeshalingam and Cate Guyman ... simply magical from rehearsal to the final bow! To the amazing Judges, Bo McCready and Vidya Setlur ! Thank you for joining me at the table that has the best seats in the house! It was so much fun being apart of our amazing judging panel! ..and to those who do all the heavy lifting back stage, Katy Clarke , and Anezi Bueno .. thank you for EVERYTHING! Without you, the product on stage doesn't happen. There were also a ton of other amzing moment! The annual Data + Women Pre-Game event continues to fill my cup at the beginning of the conference! Big thanks to Annabelle Rincon , and The Moxy Foundation (and everyone else who financial supports this event). It lead to one of my favorite traditions, the Baldies Who Do Data photo... may that tradition live on! Devs on Stage continues to delight! Congrats to Sophia Gockel (Sevier) and Lauren Hampson for hosting another stellar show! Data Night Out! A great evening to catching up with new, and old friend! Enjoying a great evening of music, and more selfies than I could possible count! I already can't wait until next year, who's with me?
May 2026How does the Open Semantic Interchange (OSI) actually work? An #OSI converter translates between the OSI semantic model's format and each specific vendor's semantic implementation. The OSI uses a hub-and-spoke architecture, and we can see that right in the logo. That green dot 🟢 in the center is the hub. The core specification acts as a central vendor-neutral format. I like to think of it as a decoder ring ✨ Each of those blue dots 🔵 on the outside is a spoke. Each converter handles translation to or from a vendor-specific format. This saves us from having to translate among each of those different dots. We only have to worry about translating from each blue dot to that center green dot. This is how the OSI, lanched by Snowflake , dbt Labs , and Salesforce , simplifies interoperability across our semantic layers. Apr 2026We’ve been working relentlessly, and at #TC26 , we’re bringing a wave of innovation to the platform. What excites me most isn’t just what we built, but how we built it: by keeping the human at the center! For over 20 years, #Tableau has been grounded in a simple belief; analytics should reflect how people think, explore, and create with data. As we enter the agentic era, we’re doubling down on that DNA. ✨ Rethinking Agentic Analytics We’re introducing adaptive, continuous experiences built around the cycle of visual analysis, where users apply analytical thinking and intuition in a fluid, iterative flow. The user stays in control. The agent augments; not replaces. 🧠 Semantic Layer, Reimagined We’re evolving the semantic layer from static to living; reflecting real business operations, enriched with context, logic, and knowledge. And importantly, we’re building the foundation and tooling that allows agents to understand, reason over, and act on this semantic knowledge. 🤝 Analytics is a Team Sport Humans collaborate, and so should analytics. If you love #Slack or #Tableau , you’ll love what we’ve built: a reimagined experience where humans and agents collaborate seamlessly in Slack to generate insights, drive decisions, take actions and—most importantly—have fun doing it! 💬 From Q&A → Objectives -> Actions We’re moving beyond asking questions to giving agents objectives: “Create my daily sales brief”, “Monitor pipeline health” Agents now reason, generate insights, and suggest actions. ⚙️ Built as a Platform This is bigger than features. It’s an agentic analytics platform—with MCP, extensions, vibe coding, and new ways to build, integrate, and innovate for the ecosystem. At the end of the day, we’re building something bigger than tools. We’re building an agentic analytics platform rooted in #Tableau ’s DNA: Human-centered Working with data is not linear. It’s iterative. creative. collaborative. fun. human. And that’s exactly what we’re building for. Join us at #TableauConference to learn, grow, and have fun!🚀 https://lnkd.in/d6eFVWpr
