LinkedIn

I went out to Dave & Buster's Inc. to celebrate my upcoming birthday with friends (yes, I turned 28). Apparently they noticed my increased LinkedIn activity. I jokingly said "watch out, next thing I post about could be about us out at Dave and Busters!" and we all laughed it off… Anyways, here's three things D&B's taught me about sales and account management: 1. Relationships matter, but new opportunities matter too. I’ve always done well on the Big Wheel, but one of the best wins of the night came from trying a different game and finding success there. In business, it’s easy to stay in your comfort zone — but professional, personal and financial growth usually comes from trying something new. 2. Rejection is part of the game - keep swiping your power card! Not every attempt works. The ring toss game jammed on me just like a sales pitch can miss, or the timing is off. That doesn’t mean you stop. It means you reset and try again! 3. Great service makes the experience. The best part of the night wasn’t the games or prizes — it was how welcoming and attentive our server was. In sales, the close matters, but how you and your team treat people after the close matters even more. Ultimately, sales is not just about closing a deal - it’s about patience, resilience and creating a good experience that makes people want to keep working with you!
