If yes, join us for a great discussion on Wednesday afternoon "From Regional Deployments to Realizing the Big Promise of the Cross Border Use Case". I look forward to exploring how we move from innovation to adoption at scale with my panelists: Daniele Dondi (ING), Igor Mikhalev (EY Parthenon) and Nicole Sandler (Ubyx). We will touch on all of the hot topics, including "should stablecoins pay yield?", "are tokenized deposits or stablecoins preferable?", "do we need a EUR stablecoin?". May 2026The Build vs Buy calculation has changed. Is AI bringing about the SaaS doomsday? David Abramson, Chief US Strategist and Director of Research at Alpine Macro, a top investment research firm, asked me this on a recent call. AI is bringing down the cost of developing software. That affects every software company, whether they sell it (traditional model), rent it (SaaS) or even give it away (open source). It's not the business model that matters, it's the type of software they're building. Are they building something for an industry - software for hotels, or automobile sales, or bank payments? If yes, they better buckle up. As the cost of software development falls, businesses are building the systems they always wanted to, but could never justify. Anything critical to their competitive position is under pressure from home-built alternatives. Or are they building something that everyone needs, but businesses don't compete on? Cybersecurity, infrastructure, observability will be much more resilient. But not safe. Cheaper software development brings in more competitors and drives down pricing. What this means in practice: * If you are an investor, you need to rerate your vertical software solution providers, SaaS or traditional * If you are a SaaS founder, your moat is your operating model fit with your clients, not your feature set * If you are an enterprise leader, look at your stack and build your competitive advantage, BEFORE your competitors get a jump on you How is your organization rethinking build vs buy in your category? Comment or DM me if you'd like a full copy of the Alpine Macro report, and I'll shoot it over to you. #GenerativeAI #AgenticAI #AI #SaaS #Software #OperatingModel #Operations #EnterpriseAI David Abramson Alpine Macro
