May 2026Businesses should expect more from their accounting and advisory firms than technical expertise alone. Here’s the difference: With surface-level relationships, projects get done accurately and on time. However, the value often ends there. And when someone on your advisory team leaves, the context goes out the door with them. You’re left starting over, reestablishing relationships and re-explaining your goals again and again. Firms that prioritize depth of the relationship curate a different experience. With deep, long-term partnerships, your advisors feel like an extension of your internal team, providing guidance built on historical context, shared experience, and long-term goals. In turn, you receive forward-looking advice that’s better tailored to your priorities, more relevant to your industry, and seamlessly aligned with how your business actually operates. Relationships like these aren’t built over a single tax season or audit cycle, but instead over years and decades of consistency. At The Bonadio Group , we’re delivering on this standard through long-tenured teams, year-round engagement, and relationships grounded in trust. If that’s what you expect from your advisors, connect with our team: https://lnkd.in/efpYRxkD
Apr 2026It's safe to say that I am one of Dr. Keith Keating 's biggest supporters (self-declared, but nonetheless). When I first read his book, "Hidden Value", it reframed how I think about our work in L&D. He argues that our job isn't to be an order-taker, it's to be a value-seeker, going after the business problem underneath the training request before building anything. Nobody asks us to go fix how performance coaching conversations actually happen on a Tuesday in April. They ask for a leadership program. And what do we do? We deliver the thing that was requested. That's the trap we can get into, the request is almost never the whole problem. Our client service teams already know this. The best ones don't just answer the question a client asked. They sit with the client long enough to understand the business underneath it...the thing the client hasn't said out loud yet. That's how trust gets built. That's how a single engagement becomes a multi-year relationship. L&D should work the same way with our internal clients. The leader who asks for "communication training" for their team is the same as the client who calls asking about a narrow technical question, there's almost always a bigger conversation waiting underneath, if we're willing to slow down and have it. At The Bonadio Group , our CEO Bruce Zicari II, CPA, CVA says "our L&D has to be our R&D." I've been thinking about what that actually means in practice, especially as AI reshapes what our people need to know and how fast they need to know it. It means Bonadio University can't just deliver CPE hours and call it a win. It means walking into rooms where nobody invited us and asking what's actually getting in the way, then being willing to say the answer out loud, even when it's not a training problem. L&D should be shaping where the firm is going, not just supporting where it already is. That's the harder version of this work....still figuring it out. But I've stopped measuring our success by how a room feels on day two.
Apr 2026The next chapter of growth for businesses in Delaware will be shaped by four forces already taking hold: demographic workforce shifts, slower economic expansion, housing affordability challenges, and technological change. Here’s my perspective as an advisor to Mid-Atlantic businesses for more than three decades: 1. Labor force participation has declined from 62.3% in 2019 to 59.2% in 2024. The employers who outperform are those investing in retention, upskilling, and automation, while aligning labor strategy with long-term business forecasts. 2. Delaware’s economy is expanding at a slower pace than other states while costs, taxes, and regulatory burden continue to increase. Leading organizations are stress-testing forecasts under multiple cost scenarios and taking a proactive approach to margin protection. 3. Home prices are up more than 56% in four years, requiring a workforce strategy that extends beyond compensation. Businesses should consider expanding geographic recruitment, embracing flexible and hybrid models, and thinking holistically about where and how work gets done. 4. Access to AI and automation is widespread, but results are not. Organizations seeing real ROI are aligning investments with clear business objectives and prioritizing scalable, long-term systems over short-term solutions. I’m optimistic about what’s ahead for the region that my clients and I call home, but navigating these changes will require consistent, trusted guidance. Delaware’s businesses can benefit from the stability of long-term advisory teams who understand both their organization and the local market, especially in a time of ongoing change.
