Apr 2026I had the opportunity to speak at the International Journalism Festival this past weekend about intentional use of generative AI in the newsroom. Over the last year, I've been developing internal tools at The Philadelphia Inquirer to assist with editorial workflows. We've shipped tools to make our vast archives searchable and to aggregate community-specific tips for hyperlocal coverage. We advanced these projects from prototype to production by consistently addressing user needs and soliciting feedback from the wonderful Lenfest AI Collaborative. I was able to share our success stories in a panel alongside Emily Brown , Tristan Loper , and Kati Erwert . Check out the recording of our session to learn how we got these projects over the finish line.

Apr 2026Philly First just picked up Silver for Best Local Campaign at the Native Advertising Institute Branded Content Awards! Philly First is a unique section front at The Philadelphia Inquirer where editorial and branded content live side by side, telling stories about the people, businesses, and institutions shaping the city. Proud of the work, the teams who make it happen, and our partners who help bring it to life. https://lnkd.in/ek7SkCtk
Apr 2026Thank you David W. Brown for inviting me to speak at today’s Keystone News Summit about what’s working at The Philadelphia Inquirer and our efforts to create compelling content, tell our story, and make opportunities for the business and philanthropic communities to support. Apr 2026The New York Times and The Washington Post just dropped their Philly “best restaurants” lists (and we appreciate the love). But both missed the story (or the aroma) right under their noses: the bakery and café boom defining how Philadelphians are eating right now. The Philadelphia Inquirer 's Michael Klein caught the scent because he’s embedded in Philly’s food scene every day — in the kitchens, in the neighborhoods, in constant conversation with the people shaping it.
