We've just wrapped the Global Business Coalition for Education 's very first Leadership Lab here in New York, part of Theirworld ’s Youth Skill and Employment Accelerator. 💡 The idea? What would happen if 19 innovative non-profits working directly with young people were able to connect and discover synergies – and business leaders were brought into the mix to help find solutions to address the skills crisis? ➡️ What followed? Three days of shared learning, practical problem-solving, and -- hopefully -- new partnerships focused on helping the next generation of young Americans access the skills, opportunities, and pathways needed for the future of work. These were my top three takeaways: ⭐ The challenges in the U.S. are universal – from rural Appalachia to Los Angeles. And no sector is spared ranging from film, service and creative industries to technology, cybersecurity, gaming, small business and manufacturing. ⭐ Often times we say young people aren’t ready for the workforce, but many organizations are finding the business community isn’t ready for today’s young people. ⭐ McKinsey & Company and Company’s session on day 1 really helped nonprofit leaders develop their ability to drive change and have a deeper impact in the communities they serve. I’d like to extend a special thanks to Cara Borawski from Dell Technologies and everyone Lottie Holland, MBA , Edward Cardenas and Olivia Atto from Stellantis for making the leadership lap possible. 👉 Want to get involved?
