The U.S. Chamber of Commerce agrees with Chairman Tim Scott and Ranking Member Elizabeth Warren - wealth and power should not equal special access. That is why we support providing every American the ability to invest in the private markets. We are looking forward to working with the Senate to get comprehensive legislation across the finish line that creates more public companies, spurs entrepreneurship, and provides every American the best opportunities possible to save for their futures. Thank you to the United States Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs and my fellow witnesses, Dalia Blass, Ken Bentsen, and Cantrell Dumas
Aug 2026Will policy and diplomacy work against each other at this week’s Trump-Xi summit? On the surface, the U.S. and China are entering one of the busiest stretches of leader-level diplomacy in years. That creates a real pull toward stability. And yet, on issue after issue, both governments also continue to pursue actions that cut against rapprochement. The gap between what leaders say and what their governments are doing appears to be widening. That was the consistent thread in my conversation with Jeremie Waterman, President of the China Center at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce , on The Call from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Global Intelligence Desk . Waterman joined us on the sidelines of the Chamber's 16th Annual China Business Conference this week, by far Washington's most important forum on U.S.-China commercial relations. The relationship is entering a window where leader-level diplomacy could extend stability. But recent policy actions from both Beijing and Washington are still deepening uncertainty for companies, boards, and supply chains. As Waterman put it: “We see a tremendous amount of mistrust, evidenced by actions on both sides that are injecting more uncertainty for corporate boards and CEOs as they make their investment and supply chain decisions.” The headlines later this week will focus on what Trump and Xi say. But it'll be worth watching what each side does in the weeks after. See the full clip:
May 2026Last week, I had the privilege of welcoming Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, along with Prime Minister Rob Jetten of the Netherlands, to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce . Trade and investment between the U.S. and the Netherlands is one of the strongest pillars of the transatlantic relationship: $184 billion in bilateral trade, a top-five European partner for most U.S. states, and hundreds of thousands of jobs on both sides of the Atlantic. In America's 250th year, it's worth remembering that the Dutch were among the first to back our independence. That friendship has only deepened. We look forward to the next chapter of growing together.

Apr 2026I was pleased to join US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin for the introduction of the agency’s Water Reuse Action Plan 2.0. Water supply often determines where new facilities can be built and expanded, and ultimately, whether a community can benefit from economic growth. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is proud to partner with the EPA on this important initiative, which advances industry-led approaches to secure a reliable water supply for our nation’s future. We look forward to working with our members and Administrator Zeldin to implement it. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gsV2HS85
