We keep asking: how do we make teachers more AI-literate? Maybe we're asking the wrong question. Our new paper "When AI Literacy Isn't Enough: Belief-Value Evaluation and Relational Trust in Teacher Adoption" just published at SITE 2026, and it challenges a common assumption in EdTech: that competence and positive attitudes lead to adoption. They don't. Not consistently. Across 103 university teachers, we found that adoption decisions are shaped less by skill and more by pedagogical beliefs and trust. Teachers weren't asking "can I use this?" They were asking "should I, given what teaching means to me?" We propose a belief-value evaluation framework that reframes AI adoption as a judgment of pedagogical legitimacy, not just perceived usefulness. Published in AACE proceedings, pp. 693-700, with co-authors Farah Chakarka and Dr. hicham Fatmi . What do you think it takes for AI to earn a place in the classroom? 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g3J2kKtR #AILiteracy #TeacherAdoption #EdTech #HigherEducation #GenerativeAI #EducationResearch
