One of the most interesting and rewarding parts of my job is to be able to think strategically about how to enhance the Finance Department at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP . Adding Greg Gartland and April Doxey to our lender-side business, including our private credit and distressed finance practices, is a huge milestone. We will soon have more than 15 finance lawyers in Chicago led by Jacob Schtevie starting from scratch 3 years ago! April and Greg will be a great resource for our lender clients as they navigate some tricky situations. Reach out if you want to hear more!
May 2026Spent yesterday in Chicago at the Union League Club for a roundtable on AI and law firm operations. Thanks to Daniel W. Linna Jr. for moderating, and to the organizers for putting together an agenda that went past the usual surface-level conversation. I was on Panel 3 (AI and the Revenue Cycle / Justifying the Investment) and Panel 4 (Supporting Firm Operations, Not Just Legal Practice), alongside Murray Coffey , Angela Floessel (ALPP, ALPM) , Keith Maziarek , Dina Panfill, Eric H. , Tisha Stewart, and Trevor Quick . What I keep coming back to is something pretty simple: clients don't come to law firms for cost savings, they come for expertise. AI doesn't change that. If anything, it asks more of the experts, and shifts the work toward teaching lawyers at every level how to direct it rather than just produce it. Most firms now have access to the same type of tools, so the differentiation is going to come from what we build around them and the expertise of the human at the helm. (I can't remember who said "human at the helm" yesterday, but it stuck.) Keith's framing of IOI (impact) over ROI is going to stay with me as a better way to think about measuring any of this. Thanks to everyone who made the trip and pushed the conversation. Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP #LegalAI #LawFirmOperations #LegalInnovation
May 2026Very honoured to be shortlisted by IFLR for the Women in Business Law EMEA Awards in the area of White Collar Crime alongside some fabulous friends and colleagues in the UK and EMEA, and to see my Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP partners Henrietta de Salis and Claire McDaid deservedly recognised for their exceptional achievements! #WIBL
May 2026First Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP Retreat in Fort Lauderdale, and it delivered. As Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer, I think a lot about relationships, how to build them, scale them, and make them real. This weekend was exactly that: real. The firm’s vision for the future wasn’t just discussed, it showed up in how people connected. Across offices, practices, and borders. You could feel the momentum. A few highlights: 🚴♂️ A 20-mile ride with lawyers from Germany, London, Texas, and New York — equal parts networking and survival. Graham Lane - thank you for organizing. 🎤 Hearing Matt Dixon , a sharp reminder that relationships aren’t about being everywhere, but being intentional where it matters most. 🏓 Pickleball that got competitive — but stayed fun — with partners from across the firm. Adam Turteltaub - needed you for the championship! 📺 80s night… which somehow turned into a BD conversation with someone straight out of an MTV set circa 1980s. Heather Daughters - you brought us back to that era. What stood out most: energy, alignment, and a real investment in each other. Because firms don’t grow on strategy alone — they grow on relationships. And the future here is bright!
