“Will you always work here, mommy? We love it here and want to always come back.” Despite it being a crazy, chaotic day, Bring Your Child to Work Day is always a fun one. It’s a chance to step back from the usual pace and see the firm the way our kids do - which is pretty refreshing. It’s also a reminder that this place is bigger than just the people in the office and the work they do. Behind every person here is their family - and in a lot of cases, little humans watching and learning. Give it enough time… they’ll be running places like this in their own way (and it’ll happen faster than we imagine!) #BringYourChildToWorkDay #Wiss

Apr 2026An excuse to visit the city, expense some good whiskey on the company card, and a room full of finance leaders and founders? Twist my arm. We're hosting a focused discussion + happy hour at the Wiss NYC office on May 13th with Sequoia and StartupExperts . Great drinks, honest conversation about the future of the finance stack, and a live look at tools we actually believe in like Basis and Rillet. DM me or grab a spot at the link below. 🌆
Apr 2026Great to be back on campus at Villanova University yesterday for the spring Accounting Advisory Council meeting. Always special to walk through campus on a beautiful spring day, but what stood out was seeing how the Villanova School of Business is leaning into the future with appropriate urgency. Dean Wen Mao, PhD and Jennifer McBride Altamuro are driving real change in the accounting curriculum. Professor Cory Ng walked the council through a generative AI demo applied to financial analysis, and the energy in the room made it clear this is already happening, not theoretical. The candor and experience of fellow council members added real weight to the discussion. Proud to serve on this council and even prouder of where Villanova is headed. Go Cats!
Apr 2026Nonprofit accounting is not the same as for-profit accounting. It's not an entirely different language, but it has enough nuance that a general accounting background doesn't fully capture it. Nonprofits often hire staff who are deeply committed to the mission and hardworking, but who may not have been trained in the specific nuances of nonprofit financial reporting. That's not a knock on anyone. It's just a structural reality of how the sector hires. Having a firm that specializes in this work matters. Not just for compliance, but for the monthly board reporting, the budget-to-actual analysis, the grant-specific reporting that different funders require. That expertise is what makes the finance function actually useful to the people running the organization. Connect with me to learn more about the Wiss approach.

Apr 2026Thank you Abacum for the opportunity to attend this fantastic event. Was a great opportunity to hear from industry leaders on the future of the profession especially with the rapid adoption of AI. And of course always a pleasure to speak with other professionals to bounce around ideas. #FPandA #Wiss # Abacum
Apr 2026A lot of nonprofits switch accounting systems and then find themselves in a worse position than before, not because the system is bad, but because implementation and ongoing support are two very different things. I've worked with organizations that went directly to another accounting system, did the implementation, and were essentially left on their own when they needed more. No custom reports built out. No training for their team. No one to call when the system wasn't doing what they expected. What started as a technology upgrade became a source of frustration, until we came in and spent years helping them build out what they actually needed. The thing I always tell nonprofits going through a system transition: the go-live date is not the finish line. It's the starting line. How you're supported in the months and years after implementation determines whether the investment pays off. A system that's configured correctly and used well is a completely different tool than one that was simply turned on.
