Some events reframe how you see everything. When Monica invited me to attend the LawDroid AI Conference 2026, I went in curious. I came out convinced. Hosted by Thomas G. Martin , the virtual event brought together some of the sharpest minds in legal tech. Nicola (Nikki) Shaver 's keynote set the tone from the explosive growth in legal tech funding ($1.42B in Q1 2026 alone!) to the reality that 79–90% of lawyers are already using AI, the message was clear: This is no longer a "wait and see" moment. Law firms that aren't actively building differentiated AI capabilities risk being left behind. The panel with Dr. Megan Ma , Damien Riehl , and Joanne Sprague really stuck with me. A few things that hit home: → AI's potential to automate ~74% of legal work isn't a threat — it's an opportunity to redirect human talent toward judgment, strategy, and quality control. → The future isn't "human in the loop" — it's "human in control." That's a BIG distinction. → Perhaps most exciting to me personally: AI has real potential to democratize access to justice. Lower barriers, more people served, broader reach of legal services. That's the kind of transformation worth getting behind. I'm proud to be part of it — supporting ZentLaw and Law Innovation Agency in shaping this space globally.
